At Perkolator Coffee, community has always been at the heart of what we do. From our neighbors in Portage Park to coffee-growing regions across the globe, we believe in building relationships that bring people closer together—one cup at a time.
That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our very first direct trade partnership with Finca La Loma, a family-run farm located in Fraternidad, Ocotepeque, Honduras. This collaboration is about more than just delicious coffee—it represents over a year of work building a bridge between our Chicago community and coffee farmers who care deeply about their land, their workers, and their craft.
This partnership came to life in a uniquely neighborly way. A relative of the Finca La Loma family, who lives right here in our community, connected us through a neighborhood chat board. What began as a simple introduction turned into a meaningful relationship—and now, a 1,300lb purchase of their beautiful, natural process Honduran coffee.

Finca La Loma is located in Fraternidad, Ocotepeque, a small mountain town in western Honduras near the borders of Guatemala and El Salvador. The surrounding region is known for its fertile volcanic soils, cool mountain air, and steady rainfall, all of which create excellent conditions for cultivating high-quality coffee. Farms in this part of Ocotepeque are typically planted at elevations ranging from 1,200 to 1,800 meters above sea level, allowing coffee cherries to mature slowly and develop layered, nuanced flavors.
From this environment, Finca La Loma produces a natural process coffee that highlights the richness of its origin. In the cup, you’ll find lively notes of citrus, a sweetness reminiscent of brown sugar, and the smooth comfort of milk cocoa—a profile that is both vibrant and approachable.

Choosing to trade directly with farmers means more than just securing great coffee—it means ensuring that the La Loma family receives an above-market, fair price for their harvest. These fair wages empower them to invest in their workers, improve infrastructure, and continue elevating the quality of their green coffee year after year.
For us at Perkolator, direct trade is about fairness, sustainability, and human connection. It’s about honoring the people behind the coffee, and making sure that our daily ritual uplifts communities both here and abroad.
This coffee represents everything we strive for:quality, transparency, and community. With every sip, you’re not only enjoying a cup of coffee that was roasted with pride in your neighborhood—you’re also helping support a family farm in Honduras and strengthening the ties that connect us all.
We invite you to stop by Perkolator, grab a bag, and be part of this exciting new chapter with us. The event will feature shared stories, photos, and videos from the farm, along with a taste oftraditional Honduran street foods prepared in honor of the occasion.
